Now it has been some time since I joined Yuva Unstoppable. On joining Yuva, the first thing that strikes you is the concept of Random Acts of Kindness.
Today, I want to share one such story that happened with a close friend of mine.
I don’t want to name her… so lets call her Radha…
Place: Mumbai Airport
Time: 5:00 AM
Radha was waiting for the sun to rise so that she could catch a rick and reach home. Just when she was thinking of getting up to leave, there was some commotion. It was a foreign tourist at the focus of it. She was crying and talking to he airport authorities. On asking fellow passengers, she found that the tourist had lost all her money due to some reason and was left stranded at the airport with very less money, no food. Everyone was looking at the scene, but no one had the guts to come forward and help.
Minutes were passing… no one came to help. Then Radha took a decision. She went to the lady. Their eyes met. She could feel the helplessness. Radha lived alone and knew how it feels to be stranded at a place where you don’t know anyone. She fumbled for words, but none would come. She just took out some cash she had. But, she knew this was not enough. She had a pack of cookies in her handbag. She took it out and without saying anything, passed it to the tourist. Both were speechless. Radha could cry out for all she was feeling. She just put some money and walked away so that she wouldn’t cry out. While going out she looked back. She saw just two thing. The thankful eyes of the lady and a crowd that had come to help the lady. With her heart full of contentment, she walked out and called out: “Rickshaw!!”
Such gestures, small as they are, lead to a better world. Why can’t all of us be of this kind??
Why can’t people in this well-meaning society express care for an individual not known to them??
Shouldn’t we, as humans, be like Radha and show compassion towards fellow humans??
Now you will ask… how??
Its all upto you…
Give a smile to your driver today… thats kindness…
Give a hug to your mom…
Talk for 10 mins to a street kid…
Give a lift to an old uncle…
Give a hug to someone who looks sad…
All these are small acts of kindness that add up to build a better society…
So… aaj aap kisko khushi denge??
